IMPACTED/ WISDOM TOOTH REMOVAL

Third molars (wisdom teeth), with evolution, are generally getting locked up (impacted) within the jaws due to smaller jaw sizes & inadequate space for their eruption in the contemporary generations. Sometimes, they may be partially erupted with the remaining portion of tooth either covered within the bone or gums. They are situated in the farthest reach making access to brushing little difficult which may lead to infection of gums and teeth. If they are locked within the bone, they remain in close proximity to the roots of their adjacent molars which may be damaged. Such impacted teeth are removed by your doctor using specialised equipments and technique under local/general anaesthesia. After wisdom teeth removal, swelling is common which is managed with medications and constant ice packs. Sutures are removed after a week depending on the healing of tissues.
